ASSAM UNIVERSITY

Assam University came into existence in 1994 after enactment of the Assam (Central) University Act 1989. The emblem of the university has mountains and river surrounded by semi circular rays of sun in the upper half and traditional Assamese hat in the lower half. The name of the university and place are placed around the circle on top. Its motto in Sanskrit is ‘प्रत्यबोधकृतिरुपपत्य’ placed at the bottom of the circle supported a open book.
