The Institute was jointly established in 1963 as Malaviya Regional Engineering College Jaipur by the Government of India and the Government of Rajasthan. On June 26, 2002, the college was given the status of National Institute of Technology and became Malaviya National Institute of Technology Jaipur (MNIT). On August 15, 2007. The emblem of MNIT has a lamp with four burning wicks placed over a grid is supported by its tagline ‘योगः कर्मसु कौसलम्’ in Sanskrit meaning ‘Yoga is Skill in Actions’. These are ensconced by a gear wheel. This is surrounded by a yellow border on which the name is written in Hindi and English.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.
