The emblem of AKD Dharmaraja Women’s College (AKDDWC) features a circle housing the motifs of a traditional hanging lamp, a balance scale, a veena, and satellite dish antenna ensconced by a blue circular border inscribed with the name of the college. The circle is crested by a tiara and supported on sides by a pair of laurels. Below the seal, on a red banner, the motto of the college in Tamil ‘உண்மை உழைப்பு உயர்வு’ meaning ‘Truth Labour Growth’ is inscribed. The tiara high social status, wealth, power, and nobility, acting as a marker of sovereignty for royal and aristocratic women; the lamp symbolises light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity; the balance scale are the traditional symbols of justice as wielded by statues of Lady Justice and the supporting hands signify the support for justice, healing and life; the veena art, culture, heritage and tradition; the satellite refers to science and technology; the laurels are symbols of ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication.
