The emblem of AKD Dharmaraja Women’s College (AKDDWC) features a circle housing the motifs of  a traditional hanging lamp, a balance scale,  a veena, and satellite dish antenna ensconced by a blue circular border inscribed with the name of the college. The circle is crested by a tiara and supported on sides by a pair of laurels. Below the seal, on a red banner, the motto of the college in Tamil ‘உண்மை உழைப்பு உயர்வு’ meaning ‘Truth Labour Growth’ is inscribed. The tiara high social status, wealth, power, and nobility, acting as a marker of sovereignty for royal and aristocratic women; the lamp symbolises light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity; the balance scale are the traditional symbols of justice as wielded by statues of Lady Justice and the supporting hands signify the support for justice, healing and life; the veena art, culture, heritage and tradition; the satellite refers to science and technology; the laurels are symbols of ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication.

The motto of the institution is written along the circumference in Devanagari ‘राष्ट्र की सेवा में परमाणु’ meaning ‘Atoms in the Service of the Nation, above and below respectively in grey. DIRECTORATE OF FORENSIC SCIENCE SERVICES During 1983, the then Scientific Advisory Committee to the Cabinet (SAC-C) under the overall guidance of an Expert Committee chaired by Prof. M. M. Sharma, FRS, recommended that the laboratories in Delhi, Calcutta and Hyderabad must be developed as Science and Technology institutions, functioning in an autonomous fashion. Accordingly, the Government of India declared the forensic science Institutions, as Science and Technology institutions. In the first phase, the three Central Forensic Science Laboratories at Calcutta, Hyderabad, and Chandigarh were restructured into six scientific division viz. Biology, Ballistics, Chemistry, Explosive, Physics and Toxicology.
