The circle is ensconced by a circular border inscribed with the name and place of the college in Tamil. The seal is supported by a blue banner inscribed with the motto of the college in Tamil ‘அறிவுக்கான தேடல்’ meaning ‘Quest for Knowledge’. The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the mortarboard hat or Oxford hat with scroll denote educational achievement, equality, tradition and rights of passage; the book refers to education, knowledge, learning and wisdom; the torch with flame is an emblem of enlightenment, hope, life, truth and the regenerative power; the nib of a pen symbolises freedom, intelligence, creativity, professionalism, determination and diligence; and the flying eagle symbolises strength, freedom, new perspectives, and spiritual guidance, representing rising above limitations, achieving clarity, and embracing power, often signaling good fortune, transformation, or courage for bold moves.

NATIONAL LAW INSTITUTE UNIVERSITY The National Law Institute University (NLIU) has been established by Act No. 41 of 1997 of the Madhya Pradesh Legislature to fill the gap and provide the most modern legal education through multidisciplinary teaching and training of newer skills needed for the profession. The University launched its first academic programme in 1998. The red circular emblem of the university has its acronym written in the middle, topped by a yellowish drop of enlightenment, knowledge, wisdom and realisation. PALM The palm is a symbol of Jain religion. The lower portion of this palm shows fearlessness and symbolize the feeling of non-violence ‘Ahimsa’ towards all the creatures in this world. The circle in the middle of the hand symbolizes the cycle of reincarnation ‘Samsara’ and the 24 spokes represent the preachings of the 24 Tirthankars – ‘enlightened souls’, which can be used to liberate a soul from the cycle or reincarnation. The mantra of ‘Ahimsa’ at the bottom of emblem means ‘Live and Let Live’ - ‘Parsparograho Jivanam’. All creatures should help one another. The wheel of dharma with 24 spokes represents the religion preached by the 24 Jain Tirthankars which consist of nonviolence - ‘Ahimsä’, compassion, Aparigraha, Anekäntvaad and other virtues and equality of all the souls.

Mangos are the sweetest of fruits, symbolizing auspiciousness and the happy fulfillment of legitimate worldly desires. In Sanskrit the design is known as mankolam and has long been used in India. In Tamil, ‘ma’ means Mango and kolam means rangoli pattern, suggesting a possible Tamil origin for the Sanskrit word.
