ANNAMMAL COLLEGE OF EDUCATION FOR WOMEN (ACEW)

The emblem of Annammal College of Education for Women (ACEW) features a shield inscribed with the motifs of a blooming lotus on water under a rising sun surmounted by an open book supported by a pair of swans. The motto of the college in Tamil ‘அறிவொளியால் அருள் மலர’ meaning ‘May the Grace Bloom Through Enlightenment’  is written on a blue banner placed below the shield. The year of establishment of the college is written at the bottom. The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the lotus  represents life, energy, power, positivity, illumination, light and clarity; the sun  represents life, energy, power, positivity, illumination, light and clarity; the book denotes knowledge, education, learning and wisdom; and the swans are sacred and are symbols of grace and beauty.
