LIGHT COMBAT BATTALION |
The insignia of Bhairav Light Combat Battalion features ‘Vasuki’, the King of Snakes entwined on a commando dagger, with the motto of the battalion inscribed in Sanskrit ‘अदृश्य अदम्य’ meaning ‘Invisible Indomitable’ on a banner placed below. The name of the battalion surmounts the motifs. Bhairav is one of the many names of Lord Shiva and He is always seen accompanied with the King of snakes Vasuki around his neck. The snake Vasuki of Lord Shiva symbolises the indomitable spirit and fearlessness associated with the battalion. Vasuki was used by the Gods and demons as rope around Mount Mandara to separate amrita (nectar), the divine drink granting immortality.
