The motto reads ‘அறிதோறு அறியாமை கண்டற்றால்’ (1110, Thirukkural, Thiruvalluvar) meaning ‘Knowing the Things of the World is Like Seeing the Unknown’. Thiruvalluvar symbolises literature, history, heritage and culture of the place; the temple denotes divine grace and guidance; and the lake is a major geographical identity of Chengalpattu.
