YADAVA COLLEGE

The blue and green compass shaped emblem of Yadava College features a gopuram of a temple placed on a 12 petal flower spread in the centre surrounded by a ‘kuthuvilakku’ (a traditional lamp) being lit by a hand, a profile of Lord Balakrishna, a cow and its calf and an open book. The motifs are ensconced by a circular border of the compass inscribed with the status of the college. The compass is supported by a blue banner inscribed with the motto of the college in Tamil ‘அறிவே செல்வம்’ meaning ‘Knowledge is Wealth’. The compass denotes direction, guidance, and adventure, symbolising a safe, guided journey through life's challenges and the ability to find one's way. The gopuram refers to divine grace, blessings and guidance; the lamp symbolises light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity; Lord Balakrishna represents the divine child form of Krishna, symbolising innocence, boundless love, and playful divinity (leela); the cow and its calf divine motherhood, unconditional love, and nurturing, representing the ideal, harmonious bond between a teacher and her student; and the book denotes knowledge, education, learning and wisdom.
