ANNAI THERASA ARTS AND SCIENCE COLLEGE (ATASCTKM)

The shield-shaped emblem of Annai Therasa Arts And Science College (ATASCTKM) features a torch with flame, an open book and an image of the sacred Thirukalukundram hill, located near Chengalpattu in Tamil Nadu, which is famous for the 14th-century Sri Vedagiriswarar (Shiva) temple on its summit. It is known as Pakshi Theertham or the ‘Hill of Eagles’. The shield is crested by a rising sun and supported by its name and place in Tamil. The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the sun represents life, energy, power, positivity, illumination, light and clarity; the torch with flame is an emblem of enlightenment, hope, life, truth and the regenerative power; and the book denotes knowledge, education, learning and wisdom.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.

EMBLEM OF WEST BENGAL The emblem consists of a circle depicting a globe with the state of West Bengal highlighted by a representation of the Bengali alphabet 'পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সরকার'. The National Emblem of India appears above the globe and the emblem includes the name of the state in the English. The central element of the emblem was also used by the Biswa Bangla campaign to promote sale of traditional West Bengali handicrafts and textiles. The current emblem was designed by Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of the state and was officially adopted in January 2018.
