The shield shaped emblem of Thanthai Periyar Government Arts and Science College (Autonomous) (TPGASC) features the motifs of the gopuram of the Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple of Srirangam , a lotus, an elephant and the historic Rockfort of Tiruchirapally. The shield is supported by a banner inscribed with the motto of the college in Tamil ‘நூலினைப் பகுத்துணர்’ (59, New Aathichoodi, Mahakavi Bharathiyar)  meaning ‘Critically Analyse the Books’. The temple refers to the heritage and history and divine grace and guidance; the lotus denotes purity, enlightenment, rebirth, transformation, personal growth, resilience, overcoming obstacles and divine beauty; the elephant signifies power, strength, unity and wisdom; and the Rockfort refers to the place’s history, heritage and contemporary identity.

GOVERNMENT POLYTECHNIC, RANCHI (GP RANCHI) The purple emblem of Government Polytechnic, Ranchi (GP Ranchi) features a gearwheel housing the motifs of a factory with chimneys, mining towers and trees. The motto of the college in Sanskrit ‘योगः कर्मसु कौशलम्’ (Verse 50, Chapter 2, Bhagavad Gita), which translates to ‘Yoga is Skill in Action’ is written on a banner placed below the gearwheel. The gearwheel is a universal symbol of mechanical engineering, industrial progress and automation; the factory symbolises manufacturing, manufacturing plants, and heavy engineering production. It honors the rich mineral and industrial baseline of the Ranchi and Jharkhand regions; the mining towers represent core infrastructure sectors such as civil engineering, mining and oil extraction; and the trees are silhouettes of local trees, recognising the natural landscape of Jharkhand (which translates to ‘The Land of Forests’.

The ‘i’s are topped with a gear wheel and  red circle symbolising industrial production and productivity. The letters ‘S’ and ‘R’ are written like a pen to denote research and reporting. The shield is surmounted by a banner inscribed with the name and place of the college and supported by a banner inscribed with the motto of the college in Sanskrit ‘विद्या ददाति विनयात् श्रेयस्’ (Narayan Pandit, 6, Hitopadesha) meaning ‘Education Makes one Humble’. SANT GAHIRA GURU VISHWAVIDYALAYA The circular emblem of Sant Gahira Guru Vishwavidyalaya (SGCG), formerly known a s Sarguja University has a circular border in orange and green and has its name, place and motto inscribed in Devanagari and supported by a pair of tribal ornaments. The motto is written in Sanskrit which is an extract from the Kathopanishad ‘विद्ययाऽमृतमश्नुते’, (Shloka 11, Ishopanishad) meaning ‘Immortality is Gained from Learning’. Inside the border, motifs of a drum, supported by a pair of horns; an open book topped by a red sun ; a banyan tree and a pair of crests of millets are placed. UNIVERSITY OF JAMMU The University of Jammu (UoJ) came into existence in 1969 through the Kashmir and Jammu Universities Act 1969 following bifurcation of the erstwhile University of Jammu and Kashmir. The circular emblem of the university has an open book supporting a lotus with a background of mountains and surmounted by atomic structure. These are ensconced by a yellow circular border which carries its motto in Sanskrit ‘तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय’ (Yajnavalkya,1.3.28, Pavamana Mantra, Brihadaranyaka Upanishad) meaning ‘From Darkness Lead me to Light’ on one side and its name in Kashmiri on the other side.
