LOGANATHA NARAYANASAMY GOVERNMENT ARTS COLLEGE (AUTONOMOUS), PONNERI (LNGC)

The emblem of the Loganatha Narayanasamy Government Arts College (Autonomous), Ponneri (LNGC) features a shield inscribed with the motifs of a lotus, an open book, a ‘kuthuvilakku’ (a traditional lamp), a hoe and a field with seedlings. Below the shield the motto of the college in Tamil ‘ஒழுக்கம் உடைமை குடிமை’ meaning ‘Morality Possessions Civic Engagement’ is inscribed on a banner. The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the lotus denotes purity, enlightenment, rebirth, transformation, personal growth, resilience, overcoming obstacles and divine beauty; the book refers to knowledge, education, learning and wisdom; the lamp symbolises light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity; and the hoe and the field denotes farmer and agriculture.

DIRECTORATE OF FORENSIC SCIENCE SERVICES During 1983, the then Scientific Advisory Committee to the Cabinet (SAC-C) under the overall guidance of an Expert Committee chaired by Prof. M. M. Sharma, FRS, recommended that the laboratories in Delhi, Calcutta and Hyderabad must be developed as Science and Technology institutions, functioning in an autonomous fashion. The green toned circular emblem of the university has a motif of a farmer tilling the soil using cattle and plough placed over an open book signifying the knowledge, wisdom and education of agriculture. Below this its motto in Sanskrit ‘कृषि मूलम् जगत् सर्वम्’ meaning ‘Agriculture is the Root of the World’ is written. All these are ensconced in two circular borders, of which one carries its name and place in English and the outer one carries its name and place in Devanagari supported by a pair of wheat ears.
