The emblem of Madhupur College, Kalan, Jajpur rising sun with Swastika, a set of wavy lines, a tree and a veena ensconced by a circular border inscribed with the name and place of the college. Below the seal, on a banner , the motto of the college in Sanskrit ‘मधुबता रुतायते’ (मधु॒ वाता॑ ऋताय॒ते, Mandala 1, Sukta 90, Richa 6, Rigveda) meaning ‘The Winds Bring Sweet (Rewards)’. The sun represents the light of knowledge, wisdom and the removal of ignorance; the Swastika is a sacred symbol representing auspiciousness, well-being and prosperity; the wavy lines symbolise active life, the continuous flow of karma (actions) and the nearby river Brahmani which surrounds the college; the tree represents nature, growth and the local landmark of Nandankanan harbour area where the college is located; and the veena, a traditional musical instrument associated with Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge and arts, symbolises the pursuit of fine arts and learning.
