BANDHAN BANK

Chandra Shekhar Ghosh observed the plight of Kolkata’s small traders. To grow their businesses, they had no option except high interest loans from traditional money lenders. His desire to help these marginal business owners led to the creation of Bandhan Bank, a microfinance institution providing loans and hope to the poorest. The logo of the bank is an image of the traditional Indian ‘diya’. The logo uses red which has association with auspicious occasions. The flame of the ‘diya’, the other part of the visual identity, symbolises a ray of hope, a new morning. Between the red colour and the flame, the Bandhan Bank logo holds the promise of good things to look forward to.
