SWAMI VIVEKANANDA UNIVERSITY

Swami Vivekananda University is a private university established in 2019 by Swami Vivekananda Group of Institutions (RERF), in Barrackpore, North 24 Parganas district, West Bengal. The university is established through Act No. XV of 2019 of the State of West Bengal on December 5, 2019. The grey colour circular emblem of the university has the portrait of Swami Vivekananda supported by an open book and its acronym in  a shield and on both sides of the shield laurels are placed. All these are ensconced in a grey circular border which carries its name. An open book symbolises knowledge and wisdom; Shield symbolises protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; laurels symbolise victory, accomplishment, honour, recognition, immortality, peace and harmony and the colour grey neutrality, practicality, efficiency, maturity, wisdom, sophistication, stability, reliability and modernity.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.

WESTERN AIR COMMAND The origin of the Western Air Command can be traced back to the nascent years of independent India, when the various formations of the Air Force were organised into two groups. On July 22, 1949 the No 1 Operational Group was re-designated as the Operational Command. The Command assumed its present name of Headquarters Western Air Command on June 10, 1963. Headquarters Western Air Command, located at Subroto Park, New Delhi, has over 200 bases placed under its command and has been involved in all major operations in India since independence. Due to its geographical location the Command has always been the hub-centre of all operational activities during any operation. Its insignia has a ‘trishul’ and an eagle in the centre of a circle which is topped by India’s national emblem. Its motto in Sanskrit ‘Akashmasthseema’ in golden border is placed at the bottom.

THE TAMILNADU DR. M.G.R. MEDICAL UNIVERSITY The Tamil Nadu Medical University started functioning from July 1988. The emblem of the university symbolises various systems of medicine viz., medical, dental, Indian medicine, homoeopathy and allied health sciences. It also depicts the global character of preventive, promotive and curative medicine. The motto ‘Health for all’ reflects the objective of the medical university. The circular emblem has a caduceus, the staff of Hermes staff entwined with a snake with a backdrop of a banyan tree and crested by a sun has a yellow banner at the bottom which says in Tamil ‘நோயற்ற வாழ்வு’ meaning ‘A Disease-free Life’.

Below the shield, on a blue banner the year of establishment of the college is inscribed. UTTARAKHAND TOURISM DEVELOPMENT BOARD Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board (UTDB) is the highest body to advise the Government on all matters relating to tourism in the State. The logo of the Board is based on Devanagari letter ‘उ’ drawn using four swooshes, in which the cyan represents the mountains, blue represents the rivers, red represents the temples of the land and green represents the forests. An abstract depiction of the holy river Prachi supports the tilak. The motifs are ensconced by a circular border inscribed with the name of the college. The seal is placed on a decorated platform. The motto of the college in Sanskrit ‘तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय’ (Yajnavalkya, 1.3.28, Pavamana Mantra, Brihadaranyaka Upanishad) meaning ‘From Darkness Lead Me to Light’ is written is inscribed on the front side of the platform. Below this, the name of the place of college is written. The tilak symbolises humble surrender at the Lord's feet, spiritual purity, and divine protection from negative influences; the flame symbolises transformation, passion, purification, and divine knowledge; and the river refers to the nativity of the college.
