AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITY
Swami Keshwanand Rajasthan Agricultural University (SKRAU), formerly Rajasthan Agricultural University, is a state agricultural university located in Bikaner in Rajasthan. It was renamed after freedom fighter and social reformer Swami Keshwanand in 2009. The predominantly green and yellow circular emblem of the university has a crown of a cereal placed in the middle of a gear wheel, crested by a drop of water on a mount of sand supported by a mortarboard hat and a house. Around the gear wheel, motifs of a computer, working woman, laboratory and its technician, an open book and a field of crop are placed. All these represent the scope and areas of operation of the university. All these are ensconced in two concentric borders of yellow and green, with the name of the university in Devanagari and English along with the year of establishment ‘1987’ written respectively. Its motto in Sanskrit ‘उत्तमा वृत्तिस्तु कृषिकर्मेव’ meaning ‘The Best Occupation is Agriculture’ is written below the circular emblem. Crown of cereal denotes abundance, fertility, unity, community, cycle of life, renewal, nourishment and sustenance. The gear wheel signifies interconnectedness, efficiency and precision, progress and advancement, synchronisation and timing and order and structure. The colour green denotes hope, freedom, agriculture, nature and fertility and yellow denotes happiness, energy, vitality, focus and creativity.
