The bank, 'The Kumbakonam Bank Limited' as it was then called was incorporated as a limited company on October 31, 1904. In 1957, the bank took over the Common Wealth Bank Limited. In April, 1965, The City Forward Bank Limited and The Union Bank Limited were amalgamated with the bank. The bank's name was changed to 'The Kumbakonam City Union Bank Limited' and now to 'City Union Bank Limited'. The bank's logo has a blue circular motif and a magenta wordmark of its acronym. The motif has a right palm holding a circular motif of a blooming flower with three petals and is supported by its acronym ensconced by a circle. Below the circle its acronym is written using a bold sans serif font with curved corners.
