SRI SATYA SAI UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY & MEDICAL SCIENCES

Sri Satya Sai University of Technology & Medical Sciences (SSSUTMS) as State Private University with main campus at Sehore from Academic session 2014-15 with the approval of the State Legislature of Madhya Pradesh. The university’s emblem has a blue toned circle capped by a mortarboard hat, is ensconced by three swooshes of green, orange and blue colours. Around these its name is written on top in brown and its motto ‘Where Talent Meets Opportunity….’ is written at the bottom in green. Mortarboard hat or Oxford hat denotes educational achievement, equality, tradition and rights of passage. The colours of swooshes may represent the nation's tricolour and they only guide and not enclose the motifs, meaning the graduates of the university have freedom to learn and grow beyond the artificial boundaries.

These are supported by a partial wheel of gear, in the counter of which its motto in Sanskrit ‘विश्वं ग्रामे प्रतिष्टितम्' meaning 'The World is Established from the Village' is inscribed. The crown of wheat symbolises agriculture and village produce; the pair of footwear of Mahatma denote that the university follows in the footsteps of his ideals; the rising sun denotes life, energy, power, positivity, illumination, light and clarity and the gear wheel denotes interconnectedness, efficiency, precision, progress, advancement, synchronisation, timing, order and structure.

VALLABHACHARYA TILAK The tilak of Vallbhacharyas is said to consist of two white lines down the forehead, forming a half-circle at its base and a white dot between them. Vallabhacharya (1479–1531 CE) was a devotional philosopher, who founded the Pushti sect in India, following the philosophy of ‘Shuddha Advaita’ (Pure Non-dualism). He wrote a very important commentary called ‘Shri Bhashya’. The Vallabhacharya sect worships Krishna in his character of Bala Gopala.

THE JAMMU & KASHMIR LIGHT INFANTRY India's first Light Infantry was born out of the peoples' response in 1947, to the invasion of Kashmir by Pakistan. In the difficult days of the invasion, the population formed local defence groups. These were later organised into militias responsible for specific sectors, e.g., Leh, Nubra, Jammu, Punch, etc. Over a period, these were grouped into the Militia battalions. Two of these were later converted into the Ladakh Scouts. The militia battalions operated with skill on the Line of Control (LoC) and in the 1971 Indo-Pak War earned three battle honours. In 1972, the militia battalions were brought on par with the army units, and in 1976 designated the Jammu & Kashmir Light Infantry (JAK LI). The 8th JAK LI earned great honour by capturing a Pakistani post at 21,000 feet at the Siachen Glacier in 1987.
