SRI SRI UNIVERSITY

Sri Sri University (SSU) was established on December 26, 2009 and started functioning from 2012. The university was envisioned by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. The Art of Living Programme is an integral part of the curriculum at the university. The circular seal of the university in brown colour houses a golden colour tree with trunks, branches and birds, which is ensconced by a white border. The top half of the border its name is inscribed and its motto in Sanskrit ‘सत्यं ज्ञानं अनन्थम् ब्रह्म’ meaning ‘True Knowledge is the Infinite Brahman’ is written in the bottom half. These two are separated by a pair of flying birds. The tree symbolises strength, individuality and expression, calmness, growth and the interconnectedness of everything; birds denote freedom of thought, imagination and greater vision; the colour brown signifies the earthiness, simplicity, stability, humility, warmth, reliability, endurance, timelessness and tradition and the colour gold symbolises wealth, prosperity, power, prestige and achievement.

TOBACCO BOARD The Tobacco Board was constituted as a statutory body on January 1, 1976 under Section (4) of the Tobacco Act, 1975. The Board is headed by a chairman with headquarters at Guntur, Andhra Pradesh and is responsible for the development of the tobacco industry. The primary functions of the Board include regulating the production and curing of Virginia Tobacco; keeping a constant watch on the Virginia Tobacco market in India and abroad; ensuring fair and remunerative prices to growers; maintaining and improving existing markets and developing new markets abroad by devising appropriate marketing strategies. Its emblem has two green coloured eccentric circles touching each other at the bottom and in their middle vertically a leaf of tobacco in yellow colour is positioned. It has its name written in Devanagari and English on its top and bottom.

CENTRAL COMMAND Central Command came into being on May 1, 1963. Prior to this, Lucknow was the Headquarters of the Eastern Command. After the Chinese aggression in 1962, Eastern Command moved to Kolkata and Central Command was raised at Lucknow. The area of Central Command covers the seven states of Utaranchal, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Orissa and is home to 18 Regimental Centres as well as a large number of other establishments. Several designs were considered for its emblem and finally on July 31,1963, the Surya was recommended by the first Army Commander who said “The Sun has special merit for Central Command, as the Sun itself, depicted in a round form, stands for strength and light”. GURU GHASIDAS VISHWAVIDYALAYA Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya (GGV), is a Central University of India, located in Bilaspur Chhattisgarh State, established under Central Universities Act 2009, No. 25 of 2009. Formerly called Guru Ghasidas University (GGU), established by an Act of the State Legislative Assembly, was formally inaugurated on June 16, 1983. The insignia of the institution has a innumerable concentric petalled lotus in a red circle encircled by its name and motto in Sanskrit ‘ज्ञान पंथ कृपान कै धारा’ meaning ‘Cult of Knowledge is Through the Blessings’ and is ensconced in a blue gear wheel turning clockwise. Lotus symbolises knowledge, wisdom and purity and the gear wheel symbolises energy, movement, advancement and progress.

NATIONAL BANK FOR FINANCING INFRASTRUCTURE AND DEVELOPMENT The need for establishing a dedicated financial institution to address the long-term infrastructure financing requirements in India was realised considering the nation’s GDP growth objectives and the role of infrastructure development towards the same. In response to this need, the National Bank for Financing Infrastructure and Development Act, 2021 was introduced, as it denotes the return of Development Financial Institutions (DFIs) in the country after a few decades. The Act subsequently received the assent of the President on March 28, 2021 and has come into force effective April 19, 2021. Reserve Bank of India (RBI) vide its letter dated March 8, 2022 has advised that NaBFID shall be regulated and supervised by RBI as an All India Financial Institution (AIFI) under sections 45L and 45N of the RBI Act, 1934, respectively. INDIA METEOROLOGICAL DEPARTMENT In the year 1875, the Government of India established the India Meteorological Department (IMD), bringing all meteorological work in the country under a central authority in Calcutta. The headquarters of IMD were later shifted to Shimla, then to Poona and finally to New Delhi. Its emblem has a weather map of India in blue colour, within a circular border, its name in Devanagari and English are written. These are divided by two Ashoka Chakras. On the crest is the National Emblem of India and at the bottom on a tricoloured banner, its motto ‘Adityath Jayate Vrushtih’ in Sanskrit, meaning ‘Sun Gives Rainfall’ is written.
