Since 1984, B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology (BSARCIST)is located in Tambaram, Chennai. The red and blue circular logo has a crescent moon and a star within and on their left four stars are there on a blue background. Below this a wave of water is shown and the circle is completed by a red colour patch. The crescent moon and star symbol was first used by the Ottoman Empire in the late eighteenth century. The Ottomans used it on their flags and coats of arms. Since then, this symbol has become synonymous with the Islamic faith and culture. The stars symbolise divinity, hope, faith; guidance and the wave of water symbols growth, renewal and transformation; the colour blue signifies serenity, calmness, trust, spirituality, calmness, wisdom, freedom, openness, intelligence and loyalty and the colour red signifies passion, power, strength, courage, determination, energy and celebration.
