SHREE JAGANNATH SANSKRIT UNIVERSITY

Shree Jagannath Sanskrit University, established in the year 1981, is the third of the eighteen Sanskrit universities of India. Its present campus is at Shree Vihar, Puri. The emblem of the university has a Sudarshana Chakra found atop the tower of the Lord Jagannath, Puri. The Rigveda states that this wheel is a symbol of Lord Vishnu and it is a wheel of time. This is used by him for the destruction of demons. Around the Chakra on top the name of the university is written and below the chakra its motto in Sanskrit ‘सत्यम् ज्ञानम् अनन्तम्’ meaning ‘True Knowledge is Infinite’ is written.
