OSMANIA UNIVERSITY

The seal of the Osmania University (OS) is the adaptation of its earlier versions. It has the letter ‘ع’ (Ain) the starting letter of its name in Urdu, ensconced by a banner which has formed itself into a shape of shield with festoons. The top portion of banner has its motto in Sanskrit ‘तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय’ (Yajnavalkya,1.3.28, Pavamana Mantra, Brihadaranyaka Upanishad) meaning ‘From Darkness Lead me to Light’ is written; the sides of the shield are written with its name in English and on the hangings its name is written in Telugu. The shield symbolises protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.

This Secretariat provides Secretarial assistance to the Cabinet and its Committees and also assists in decision-making in Government by ensuring inter-ministerial coordination, ironing out differences amongst Ministries and Departments and evolving consensus through the instrumentality of the standing or adhoc Committees of Secretaries. GOVERNMENT E MARKETPLACE Based on recommendations of the Group of Secretaries, it was decided to set up a dedicated e market for different goods and services procured by Government organisations, departments and PSUs. This meant transforming DGS&D to a digital ecommerce portal for procurement and selling of goods and services. Government e Marketplace (GeM) aims to enhance transparency, efficiency and speed in public procurement. The logo of GeM has several arrow shaped graphical structures, which depicts collaboration, coordination and facilitation between government entities and private vendors. It also contains the acronym and full form of the name, along with the motto ‘Efficient Transparent, Inclusive’.
