Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research (IGIDR) is an advanced research institute established and fully funded by the Reserve Bank of India for carrying out research on development issues from a multi-disciplinary point of view. IGIDR was registered as an autonomous society on November 14, 1986 and as a public trust in January 1987. Its insignia is a monogram of its acronym IGIDR forming an interesting motif of a person holding and nurturing others, placed on a pedestal of a book. The book symbolises knowledge and wisdom gained through reading, learning and research.

GOKHALE INSTITUTE OF POLITICS AND ECONOMICS The Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics (GIPS), Pune, was established in 1930 by the Servants of India Society (SIS). It is the oldest research and training institute in economics in the country. Gokhale was the one who founded the Servants of India Society in 1905. The circle is ensconced by a circular border inscribed with the name and place of the college. A pair of laurels supports the border. Below the seal, the motto of the college ‘Knowledge & Empowerment’ is written. The book signifies the pursuit of higher education, standard knowledge acquisition and open access to academic exploration for all students; the sun represents the dispelling of ignorance through enlightenment and the bright future awaiting empowered graduates; and the laurels are traditional symbol representing academic achievement, honour and victory in the pursuit of personal excellence.

GOVERNMENT DEGREE COLLEGE KOTLI (GDC KOTLI) The emblem of Government Degree College Kotli (GDC Kotli) features the motifs of a green mountain range with peaks, greenish blue waves of water, an open book and the text ‘2016’. The motifs are ensconced by the name of the college in Devanagari and English in red. The motto of the college ‘Education Liberates’ and in Sanskrit ‘सा विद्या या विमुक्तये’ (1,19.41, Viṣṇu Purāṇa, Rishi Parāśara), which translates to ‘Knowledge is the One That Liberates’ is written below the book. The mountain range reflects the local landscape of Kotli; the flowing water represents the local water streams running through the valley, symbolising continuous movement, vitality and life; and the book is a universal symbol for knowledge, learning and academic pursuit.

GOVERNMENT DEGREE COLLEGE SAINJ (GDC SAINJ) The emblem of Government Degree College Sainj (GDC Sainj) features an orangish circle with sunburst radiant lines housing the name of the college, a facade of  an entrance with three pillars supported by an open book, the text ‘Sainj’, a banner inscribed with the motto of the college in Sanskrit ‘ज्ञानम सर्वोत्तम सम्पदा’, which translates to ‘Knowledge is the Supreme Wealth’, and the text ‘Estd. 2016’. The entrance facade with three pillars visually represent the foundation of the institution, built upon three core values of tolerance, compassion and patriotism; the book universally signifies the dissemination of quality education, accessibility to literature and the progressive expansion of a student’s intellectual levels; and the sunburst with rays represent the sun and an enlightened mind.

GOVERNMENT COLLEGE KUKUMSERI (GC KUKUMSERI) The emblem of Government College Kukumseri (GC Kukumseri) features an image of a yellow Sonki flower (Senecio bombayensis or Jacobaea bombayensis) ensconced by a circular border inscribed with the name of the college in Devanagari and its motto in Sanskrit ‘उत्तिष्ठत जाग्रत प्राप्य वरान्निबोधत’ (Mantra 14, Valli 3, Chapter 1, Kathopanishad), which translates to ‘Arise, Awake and Stop Not till the Goal is Reached’. The Sonki is a bright yellow wild bloom native to the high-altitude rocky plateaus and cold Himalayan mountain ranges and valleys of the Lahaul region. It blooms extensively at the end of the monsoon season, carpeting the landscape in a golden-yellow hue. It serves as a visual anchor symbolizing the unique geographic heritage, growth, resilience, and beauty flourishing in a harsh environment.

The motto of the college in Sanskrit 'विनीतो ज्ञानवान् शुचिः’, which translates to ‘Humility Knowledge Purity’ is inscribed on a yellow panel placed below the seal.
