Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture and Technology (SVBPUAT), Meerut was established on October 2, 2000. The emblem of the university has the motifs of a sun, year of establishment, partial gear wheel, fish, mango, open book, palm trees, a microscope and a plantation of crops with its motto written in Devanagari ‘तकनीकी ज्ञान सम्पन्न किसान’ meaning ‘Technical Knowledge Prosperous Farmer’ above on a banner. All these are ensconced in an orange circle and further circumscribed by a white border with orange outlines. On the white border, the name of the university is written in Devanagari and English separated by a pair of laurels. The sun symbolises light, universal prosperity and path for growth; the gear wheel symbolises interconnectedness; efficiency and precision; progress and advancement; synchronisation and timing and order and structure; the laurels are symbols of victory, success and achievement and the open book symbolises knowledge and wisdom.
