The nib of a pen symbolises freedom, intelligence, creativity, professionalism, determination and diligence; the mortarboard hat or Oxford hat denotes educational achievement, equality, tradition and rights of passage; the book refers to education, learning, knowledge and wisdom; and the laurels are symbols of ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication.
