The emblem of Kanyakumari Government Medical College (KGMC) features the motifs of Poet Thiruvalluvar’s statue on sea at Cape Comorin with a backdrop of Western Ghats mountain range and coconut trees representing the geography of the place supported by the Staff of Hermes or Staff of Caduceus with a pair of wings and entwined by a pair of serpents. These motifs are ensconced by a circular border inscribed with the name and place of the college. The motto of the college ‘Cure Care Console’ is placed below the seal. All these elements are placed in a circle with a green border. The staff with the snake has long been a symbol of medicine and the medical profession.

MAULANA AZAD NATIONAL URDU UNIVERSITY Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) is a Central University established by an Act of Parliament in 1998. UNIVERSITY OF JAMMU The University of Jammu (UoJ) came into existence in 1969 through the Kashmir and Jammu Universities Act 1969 following bifurcation of the erstwhile University of Jammu and Kashmir. The circular emblem of the university has an open book supporting a lotus with a background of mountains and surmounted by atomic structure. These are ensconced by a yellow circular border which carries its motto in Sanskrit ‘तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय’ (Yajnavalkya,1.3.28, Pavamana Mantra, Brihadaranyaka Upanishad) meaning ‘From Darkness Lead me to Light’ on one side and its name in Kashmiri on the other side. The name of the university is written on A banner at the bottom. The open book denotes education, knowledge and wisdom; the lotus symbolises purity, enlightenment, rebirth, transformation, personal growth, resilience, overcoming obstacles and divine beauty; the mountains represent the Himalayan Mountains and the atomic structure denotes science and science education.
