The emblem of Government Arts and Science College, Thirumayam (GASCTYM) features an orange shield housing the motifs of an open book, the Dharma Chakra of the National Flag, a traditional lamp and a pair of laurels. The shield is surmounted by a banner inscribed with the name of the college in Tamil and supported by another banner inscribed with the motto of the college in Tamil ‘அன்பு அறம் தொண்டு’ meaning ‘Love Righteousness Service’. The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the book refers to learning, education, knowledge and wisdom; the Dharma Chakra defines the path of dharma; the lamp symbolises light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity; and the laurels are ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication.

No. 15 Squadron NO 15 SQUADRON The No. 15 Squadron of Indian Air Force was formed on August 2, 1951 at Ambala. In 1983, the ‘Flying Lances’ were the first MiG-21 Bis squadron in the Air Force to be modified for the Matra Magic R55, air to air missiles. The squadron was again number plated in 2009 and re-raised in 2012 on the Su-30 at Sirsa AFS. The No. 15 Squadron’s motto is ‘Nihantavya Shatava’ meaning ‘Annihilate the Enemy’. This Squadron is also called ‘Flying Lances’. Its insignia has a flying lancer in the centre with a ball of fire background. It currently operates the Mikoyan MiG-21 from Jodhpur.
