JAGADGURU RAMANANDACHARYA RAJASTHAN SANSKRIT UNIVERSITY

On February 6, 2001, the Rajasthan Sanskrit University was established. From June 27, 2005, from June 27, 2005 the name of the university has been changed to Jagadguru Ramanandacharya Rajasthan Sanskrit University, Jaipur. Its orangish yellow, pink and brown circular emblem has a computer keyboard, supporting a kumbh painted with swastika and swans on with either side, with lotus flower and buds, topped by a sloka ‘सर्वे प्रपत्तेरधिकारिणो मताः’ meaning ‘All are Considered Entitled for Attainment’ are placed in the background of a glowing light. It is ensconced in a circular border carrying the name of the university and supported by a banner with its motto in Sanskrit ‘रुतच्च स्वाध्याय-प्रवचने च’ meaning ‘Ruta In His Study and Discourse’. Keyboard denotes the use of information technology in studies; kumbha the pot of ‘amrita’ denotes nectar of immortality; Swastika denotes ‘good exoxtence’; Swans denotes purity, grace and beauty; lotus denotes purity, knowledge and wisdom and the glowing light denotes path to glory and achievement.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.

WESTERN AIR COMMAND The origin of the Western Air Command can be traced back to the nascent years of independent India, when the various formations of the Air Force were organised into two groups. On July 22, 1949 the No 1 Operational Group was re-designated as the Operational Command. The Command assumed its present name of Headquarters Western Air Command on June 10, 1963. Headquarters Western Air Command, located at Subroto Park, New Delhi, has over 200 bases placed under its command and has been involved in all major operations in India since independence. Due to its geographical location the Command has always been the hub-centre of all operational activities during any operation. Its insignia has a ‘trishul’ and an eagle in the centre of a circle which is topped by India’s national emblem. Its motto in Sanskrit ‘Akashmasthseema’ in golden border is placed at the bottom.

THE TAMILNADU DR. M.G.R. MEDICAL UNIVERSITY The Tamil Nadu Medical University started functioning from July 1988. The emblem of the university symbolises various systems of medicine viz., medical, dental, Indian medicine, homoeopathy and allied health sciences. It also depicts the global character of preventive, promotive and curative medicine. The motto ‘Health for all’ reflects the objective of the medical university. The circular emblem has a caduceus, the staff of Hermes staff entwined with a snake with a backdrop of a banyan tree and crested by a sun has a yellow banner at the bottom which says in Tamil ‘நோயற்ற வாழ்வு’ meaning ‘A Disease-free Life’.

GOA MEDICAL COLLEGE, GOA (GMC GOA) The shield-shaped emblem of Goa Medical College, Goa (GMC Goa) features scenery of the coastline of Goa with sea, sun, mountains,  and coconut groves. On this background, the motifs of a Staff of Hermes is placed on an open book placed above a four pillared facade and supported by a pair of hands. Below the shield, on a blue banner the year of establishment of the college is inscribed. UTTARAKHAND TOURISM DEVELOPMENT BOARD Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board (UTDB) is the highest body to advise the Government on all matters relating to tourism in the State. The logo of the Board is based on Devanagari letter ‘उ’ drawn using four swooshes, in which the cyan represents the mountains, blue represents the rivers, red represents the temples of the land and green represents the forests. The logo, as a composite, looks bright, vibrant and enthusiastic, thereby inviting tourists to this State. Below this the name of the State is written. UDAYANATH COLLEGE OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY (UCST) The blue emblem of Udayanath College of Science & Technology (UCST) features Urdhva Pundra - a tilak of a Vaishnava sect with its middle stroke depicted as a flame of fire. An abstract depiction of the holy river Prachi supports the tilak. The motifs are ensconced by a circular border inscribed with the name of the college. The seal is placed on a decorated platform. The motto of the college in Sanskrit ‘तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय’ (Yajnavalkya, 1.3.28, Pavamana Mantra, Brihadaranyaka Upanishad) meaning ‘From Darkness Lead Me to Light’ is written is inscribed on the front side of the platform. Below this, the name of the place of college is written. The tilak symbolises humble surrender at the Lord's feet, spiritual purity, and divine protection from negative influences; the flame symbolises transformation, passion, purification, and divine knowledge; and the river refers to the nativity of the college.
