For the purposes of affiliating, teaching and ensuring proper and systematic instruction, training and research in Homoeopathic, Ayurvedic and Unani systems of medicine; nursing, pharmacy, dental, laboratory technology, physiotherapy and speech therapy education and other paramedical courses The West Bengal University of Health Sciences was established on January 1, 2003. The emblem of the university has a caduceus the Staff of Hermes entwined by two serpents, surmounted by wings, representing the medical profession supported by an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom. The staff is surrounded by a circular line around which the name of the university is written. At the bottom, the year of establishment is written.
