CENTRAL UNIVERSITY OF KARNATAKA

The Central University of Karnataka (CUK) has been established by an Act of the Parliament at Kalaburagi, Karnataka. It is one of the 16 new Central Universities established by the Government of India in districts, which have Graduate Enrolment Ratio of less than the national average of eleven percent. The university keenly identifies itself with these universal symbols of humanism and harmony in yellow, red, green blue and black. These ideas have found expression through the famous and old symbol of the ‘Tree of Life’ which is taken as the basic motif for the logo and expressed in contemporary terms. The figurine at the bottom, representing the scholar, is seen reaching out to life in all its expansiveness and leading to knowledge and enlightenment.” Its motto in Sanskrit as stated in the emblem is ‘विद्या ददाति विनयम्’ meaning ‘Knowledge Gives Humility'.
