The Maharishi Markandeshwar University Solan (MMUS), has an oval-shaped panel with a red colour border and a red banner at the bottom of the oval. There is an image of Bhakta Markandeya hugging a Shiv Ling with a halo around. This is ensconced in a red border on which the name of the university is inscribed. On the banner the slogan in Devanagari ‘ॐ श्री मारकण्डेश्वराय  नमः’ is written. Below these its motto in Sanskrit ‘कर्मण्येवाधिकारस्ते’ (Verse 47, Chapter 2, Bhagavad Gita) meaning ‘You have the Right to Action’.
