The red circular emblem of Jiwaji University (JU) has an open book supported by a thumba - string instrument is ensconced by a white border with red outlines, on which its name and motto in Sanskrit are inscribed. The motto ‘विद्यया प्राप्यते तेजः’ means ‘Aura is Obtained by Education’. All these are placed inside a brightly glowing sun. The book symbolises knowledge, education, learning and wisdom; the thumba represents fine arts, culture and art education and the sun denotes life, energy, power, positivity, illumination, light and clarity.
