SANCHI UNIVERSITY OF BUDDHIST-INDIC STUDIES

On September 21, 2012 the then President of Sri Lanka Mahindra Rajapaksa laid the foundation stone of the Sanchi University of Buddhist-Indic Studies (SUBIS) together with the former Prime Minister of Bhutan Jigme Yoser Thinley on a hillock near Sanchi. The crest of the university in earthy colours of brown and green has a Bodhi or peepal tree with Gautama Buddha sitting beneath covered by a historical arch with a crest. At the bottom of the emblem the motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘एष धर्मः सनातनः’(Subhashitani Slokas 7) ‘The Eternal Truth’ is written. The Bodhi or peepal tree is a powerful symbol in Buddhism as it represents a human being's capacity to attain enlightenment and find the joy and peace of Nirvana. The arch represents the stupas of Sanchi which is one of the important Buddhist and heritage sites. The colour brown symbolises earthiness, simplicity, stability, humility, warmth, reliability, endurance, timelessness and tradition and the colour green symbolises agriculture, nature, growth, balance, harmony, environment, prosperity, vitality, prestige, wealth and being very down to earth.

UTTARANCHAL UNIVERSITY Uttaranchal University has come a long way since its inception in 2013 providing world class multidisciplinary education. The university's mission is to inculcate the essence of the Sanskrit Shloka ‘पदं हि सर्वत्र गुणैर्निधीयते’ meaning ‘Good Qualities Put their Footprints Everywhere’. The logo of the university has a blue and green abstract pictorial of ‘U’ and on its right a wordmark of its name in capitals thin serif letters with smooth transition of strokes. The counter of the ‘U’ is filled blue and a stroke of blue and green flows across diagonally from left to right top. This is further cut out by another ‘U’ at the top right corner. The colour blue represents serenity, calmness, trust, spirituality, calmness, wisdom, freedom, openness, intelligence and loyalty and the colour green denotes life, production, fertility, agriculture, environment and nature. The logo is modern, trendy and attractive.

Khalsa College of Education, Jammu (MCKCE Jammu) features a yellow shield with brown outlines housing the motifs of a pair of kirpans and a flaming torch. The shield is supported by a yellow banner inscribed with the motto of the college ‘Discipline & Wisdom’. The shield traditionally represents protection, defence against ignorance and the preservation of values and moral integrity; the crossed kirpans symbolise the balance between temporal (worldly) power and spiritual authority and represent the willingness to stand up for righteousness (Dharma), defend the weak, and cut through falsehood; the torch with flame is a universal symbol for enlightenment, knowledge and truth.

College of Education, Kanayari, Kathua (RSCE Kathua) features an open book inscribed with the texts ‘Knowledge is the True Power’ and ‘ज्ञानम् विज्ञान सहितम्’ (Shloka 1, Chapter 9, Bhagavad Gita), which translates to  ‘Experience Combined with Knowledge’ and flaming torch held by a hand. KSHUDIRAM BOSE COLLEGE OF EDUCATION (KBCE) The emblem of Kshudiram Bose College of Education (KBCE) features a portrait of the freedom fighter Khudiram Bose supported by radiating rays with the initials of the college ‘KBCE’ written below. The portrait is surrounded by a pair of laurels aaaand a mortarboard hat. The assemblage is ensconced by a blue circular border inscribed with the name of the college.
