The three layered circular insignia of Maharishi University of Information Technology (MUIT) has a glowing sun in yellow carrying its name and motto ‘From Potentiality to Actuality Through Creative Intelligence’ in the outer; its name and motto in Devanagari in the middle and a motif of a big tree with foliage and roots topped by its acronym in the centre circles. The green tree symbolises strength, individuality and expression, calmness, growth, rootedness and the interconnectedness of everything; the yellow sun symbolises life, energy, power, positivity, illumination, light and clarity.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.
