U.P. Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Veterinary Science University and Cattle Research Institute or U.P. Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Pashu Chikitsa Vigyan Vishwavidyalaya Evam Go-Ansundhan Sansthan was established as a college in 1947 and was converted into a university in 2001. The emblem of the university has motifs of caduceus the staff of Hermes entwined by two serpents, surmounted by wings, representing the medical profession; crested by a trishul or trident denoting power, balance, spiritual awakening, protection, divine trinity and Lord Shiva’s attributes with a background of a cow and a calf signifying the university’s pursuit in cattle research and supported on both the sides by fish denoting abundance, fertility, transformation and adaptability. All these are ensconced by a pair of horns signifying cattle and surrounded by its name. At the centre of the horn, the year of establishment of the university is written.
