AZIM PREMJI UNIVERSITY

In early 2000, Azim Premji Foundation (APF) started working in the field of elementary education in government schools across India. Azim Premji University (APU) was set up in response to this need in 2010. The emblem of the university has a cyan rectangle which has a motif of five petalled white flowers transforming into a human with yellow head as the pictorial symbolism of its work of transforming the society by transforming its students. At its right the name of the university is written in black using a casual looking font in black colour. The colour cyan denotes wood in the five elements, the cyan dragon - a mythical animal guarding the eastern section of the sky, representing hope and spring, peace and tranquillity, calmness and relaxation and emotional balance. The white flower symbolises hope, rebirth and renewal and the five petals represent faith, hope, charity, justice and peace. The use of a casual looking typeface means the university is informal, friendly, affable and genuine in its intent.
