Girijananda Chowdhury University (GCU) is situated in the outskirts of Guwahati on a sprawling twenty acre campus between the Brahmaputra river and the Deepor Beel waterbody. It was established through the Girijananda Chowdhury University, Assam, Act XLVII of 2022 of the Assam Government as a State Private University under the aegis of Shrimanta Shankar Academy Society. The emblem of the university holds a nib of a pen with gradually increasing energy emanating from it in yellow colour on a blue circle. These motifs are ensconced in a blue circular border, which carries its name and place. The nib with a stroke of power emphasises the power of knowledge through the nib of a pen, freedom, intelligence, creativity, professionalism, determination and diligence. The colour blue symbolises serenity, calmness, trust, spirituality, calmness, wisdom, freedom, openness, intelligence and loyalty and the colour yellow denotes happiness, energy, vitality, focus and creativity.
