KRISHNA KANTA HANDIQUI STATE OPEN UNIVERSITY

Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University was established in Patgaon, Rani, Guwahati under the provision of the KKHSOU, Act’ 2005 of the Government of Assam. The emblem of the university in dark brown colour has a rising sun holding three human silhouetted images above an open book supported by a palm leaf manuscript on a pedestal. Its motto in Sanskrit ‘मुक्ता वै या विद्या’ meaning ‘Liberation Through Education’ is written on the palm leaf. These are surmounted by its tagline ‘Education Beyond Barriers’. All these are enclosed with a circular border, which carries the name and place of the university. This is placed on a decorative stand on which its year of establ;ishment is written. The sun symbolises life, energy, power, positivity, illumination, light and clarity; the human images represent the beneficiaries, the open book denotes knowledge, education and wisdom and the palm leaf manuscripts denote Assam’s educational tradition.
