UNIVERSITY OF JAMMU
The University of Jammu (UoJ) came into existence in 1969 through the Kashmir and Jammu Universities Act 1969 following bifurcation of the erstwhile University of Jammu and Kashmir. The circular emblem of the university has an open book supporting a lotus with a background of mountains and surmounted by atomic structure. These are ensconced by a yellow circular border which carries its motto in Sanskrit ‘तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय’ (Yajnavalkya,1.3.28, Pavamana Mantra, Brihadaranyaka Upanishad) meaning ‘From Darkness Lead me to Light’ on one side and its name in Kashmiri on the other side. The name of the university is written on A banner at the bottom. The open book denotes education, knowledge and wisdom; the lotus symbolises purity, enlightenment, rebirth, transformation, personal growth, resilience, overcoming obstacles and divine beauty; the mountains represent the Himalayan Mountains and the atomic structure denotes science and science education.

MYSURU ROYAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY The logo of Mysuru Royal Institute of Technology (MRIT) has a pictorial of a tree with green foliage and deeply spread roots supporting a swan and is supported by a pair of humans on its sides placed in an elliptical shape. Its name is written above the ellipse and at the bottom on a banner, the managing trust’s name is written. Its tagline ‘Inspiring Success’ is written at the bottom. A pair of laurels supports the ellipse on its sides. The tree refers to strength, individuality, expression, calmness, growth, the interconnectedness of everything and perpetuity; the swans are sacred and are symbols of grace and beauty; the humans refer to enlightened students and the laurels refer to ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication. INDIAN COUNCIL FOR CULTURAL RELATIONS The circular emblem of Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) has a traditional lamp placed in a circle, which has jaffri patterns from Indian architecture. Its initials ‘ICCR’ is placed at the bottom of the circle. The lamp symbolises light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity.
