MAHARAJA BIR BIKRAM UNIVERSITY

Maharaja Bir Bikram University is a State University established on November 1, 2015 in Agartala by the Tripura Act No.6 of 2015. The university offers doctoral, postgraduate and undergraduate programmes in three subjects and library science and has three affiliated colleges. The red circular emblem of the university has an open book supporting a rising sun in a red circle placed on a floral background and is ensconced by a circular border on which its motto ‘Ideas Imagination Innovations’ and its name. The open book symbolises education, knowledge and wisdom; the rising sun symbolises light, universal prosperity and path for growth and the flower symbolises youth, beauty and pleasure.

RAJENDRA INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES (RIMS) The emblem of Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) is directly adapted from the State Emblem of the State of Jharkhand. The central motifs of the winged Staff of Caduceus entwined by a pair of serpents crested with a flaming torch, supported by an open book and a pair of laurels replace the Lion Capital; and the name, place and motto of the college replace the name of the State. The motto of the college in Sanskrit is ‘विद्यया विन्दते अमृतम्’ (Mantra 2.4, Kenopanishad), which translates to ‘Immortality Through Knowledge’. The Staff of Caduceus symbolises medicine and medical profession; the book symbolises the accumulation and dissemination of medical knowledge and the academic foundation of the institution; the torch with flame is an emblem of enlightenment, hope, life, truth and the regenerative power; and the laurels are symbols, which represent victory, honour and academic excellence.

The scales are the scales of justice representing fairness, balance and impartiality in the legal process; the laurels are a traditional symbol of victory, honour and academic achievement; the stars or hexagrams symbolise excellence, professionalism and guidance; the colour red symbolises energy, strength and authority; the green represents growth, stability and prosperity; and blue represents trust, intelligence and loyalty.
