BODOLAND UNIVERSITY

Bodoland University is a State University established under the Bodoland University Act, 2009 of the Assam Legislative Assembly on February 28, 2009. The picturesque campus of the University is located at Rangila Khata in Kokrajhar. The emblem of the university is depicted like a chariot carrying the motifs of a traditional lamp, a lotus, an open book, its motto in Sanskrit ‘श्रद्धावान् लभते ज्ञानम्’ (Verse 39, Chapter 4, Bhagavad Gita) meaning ‘The Man of Faith Obtains Knowledge’, musical instruments from the locale and a pair of wheels carrying the hood of the chariot. Below these its place is written. On the yellow banner ensconcing the hood the name of the university is written. The logo has a decoration of red coloured festoons all along the borders. At the bottom on a yellow banner the year of establishment of the university is written. The traditional lamp symbolises light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity; the lotus purity, enlightenment, rebirth, transformation, personal growth, resilience, overcoming obstacles and divine beauty; the open book symbolises knowledge, education and wisdom and the musical instruments refer the land and culture. The body is compared to a chariot, the senses to the horses, the mind to the controlling reins, the sense objects to the roads to be traversed, the intellect to the charioteer and the Chitta, the functions of the mind as well as the repository of all affections, to the binding cord. The colour yellow symbolises happiness, energy, vitality, focus and creativity.
