C. U. SHAH UNIVERSITY

C. U. Shah University (CUSU), established on April 22, 2013. The university is managed by Wardhman Bharti Trust. The emblem of the university has a circle holding the motifs of Lord Mahaveer seated on a platform on which its year of establishment is written, with a globe in the background. These are surmounted by the name of the trust and supported by its motto in Sanskrit ‘यशो सर्वदा वर्धमानम्’ (Nārāyaṇa Paṇḍita, Nītinavanītam) meaning ‘Fame that Always Increases’. These are circumscribed by a circle depicted as a thread or rope. These are further ensconced by a border which carries the name of the university and its tagline ‘Empowering Your Destination’. All these are placed on four petalled spread of lotus.The Lord Mahaveer is the guiding light of the university; the globe symbolises education, knowledge, influence, timelessness, global unity and interconnectedness and the lotus denotes purity, enlightenment, rebirth, transformation, personal growth, resilience, overcoming obstacles and divine beauty.

PARAVANI The Paravani, Mayil, Mayura or the peacock is the vahana or vehicle of the Lord Karthikeya, Murugan, Subrahmanya, Skanda, Kumara, Saravana, Arumukha, Devasenapati, Shanmukha, Kathirvela, Guha or Swaminatha. The legend has it that the demon king Surapadman, with the boon he received from the gods had become invincible. He believed that he was immortal and began tormenting all across the universe. Lord Kartikeya confronted the Surapadman and he evaded the Lord’s attacks. The demon transformed himself into a large tree near Tiruchendur. Lord Kartikeya using his Vel, the divine spear struck the tree and split Surapadman into two halves. The demon sought forgiveness from the Lord and transformed the halves into Mayil or peacock and a rooster.
