CHANDRA SHEKHAR AZAD UNIVERSITY OF AGRICULTURE AND TECHNOLOGY |
The Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology (CSAUAT), Kanpur was originally established in 1893 as a small school to impart training to revenue officers. It became a Government Agriculture College in 1906; then it became Uttar Pradesh Institute of Agricultural Sciences in 1969 and finally to the C.S. Azad University of Agriculture and Technology in 1975. The emblem of the university has circular gear housing the motifs of a bullock, a plough and a tractor. The gear is ensconced by a green bordered circle which bears the name and place of the university. The emblem is supported by a pair of laurels. The cattle, plough and the tractor represent agriculture and agricultural technology; the gear wheel symbolises interconnectedness, efficiency, precision, progress, advancement, synchronisation, timing, order and structure and the laurels are symbols of ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication.
