JAWAHARLAL NEHRU TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY HYDERABAD

Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad (JNTUH), was established on October 2, 1972 by the Legislature of the State of Andhra Pradesh as the first technological university in the country. It was restructured into four different universities by the Government vide Ordinance No.13, dated August 18, 2008 and Act of State Legislature No.30 dated September 2008 and this new university has been designated as Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad (JNTUH). The violet emblem of the university has a pink rose with a pair of pink leaves ensconced by a gear wheel. These are circumscribed by a border on which the name and palace of the university is inscribed. At the bottom its motto in Sanskrit ‘योगः कर्मसु कौशलम्’ (Verse 50, Chapter 2, Bhagavad Gita) meaning ‘Yoga is Skill in Action’ is written. Below that its tagline ‘Gateway to Excellence’ is written. The rose is symbolic of Jawaharlal Nehru, who wore a rose on his coat and the gear wheel symbolises interconnectedness; efficiency and precision; progress and advancement; synchronisation and timing and order and structure; engineering and technology.

The institute was accorded the status of a university under Gujarat State Act No. 8 of 2009. The emblem of the university has a pictorial and a wordmark. The pictorial has the letter ‘C’ written stylistically holding an orange dot in its counter and it is supported by a pair of white swooshes on a blue quadrilateral. On its right its acronym is written in blue serif typeface and its name is written below that. The colour blue signifies serenity, calmness, trust, spirituality, calmness, wisdom, freedom, openness, intelligence and loyalty and the colour orange signifies energy, vitality, creativity, inspiration, joy and happiness.

THE I.K. GUJRAL PUNJAB TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU) was established by an Act of State Legislature on January 16, 1997, to promote technical, management and pharmaceutical education in the State. It got its current name in 2015. The red and blue emblem of the university has a structure of an atom with a sun placed in the centre and supported at the bottom by a pair of hands on a blue circle, meaning the nourish, support and propagate technical and scientific education. It is ensconced in a red border which bears the name of the university in Punjabi and English. Below this on a red banner the name of the district ‘Kapurthala’ in which the university is located is written. The colour red represents passion, power, strength, courage, determination, energy and celebration; the colour blue denotes trust, character and integrity and the colour yellow denotes happiness, energy, vitality, focus and creativity.

DRAVIDIAN UNIVERSITY The Dravidian family of languages, which includes more than twenty seven tongues, is the most ancient living language family of the world. The Government of Andhra Pradesh established the Dravidian University in 1997 at the tri-lingual junction, Kuppam in Chittoor District through a Legislature Act of Andhra Pradesh and conceived as an interstate institution. The emblem of the university is designed to indicate its main objectives and ideals. The open book symbolises knowledge accessible to all. The popular maxim ‘Knowledge is Power’ found at the top of the open book indicates supreme place given to knowledge. SHRI RAMSWAROOP MEMORIAL UNIVERSITY  Shri Ramswaroop Memorial University (SRMU) was established by Uttar Pradesh State Government ACT 1 of 2012. SRMU is built upon the excellence of Shri Ramswaroop Memorial Group of Professional Colleges (SRMGPC) in engineering and business education. Its emblem has a red pot of nectar spewing out from a red vessel which has its motto ‘विद्ययाऽमृतमश्नुते’ meaning ‘Knowledge enjoys Immortality’ taken from Ishopanishad Verse 11, written on and supported by the blue globe with latitudinal and longitudinal lines. The spewed nectar falls as drops for the stakeholders benefit. These are ensconced in a border on which its name and the State is inscribed. GOA UNIVERSITY Goa University (GU) has three campuses in Panaji, Margao and Vasco da Gama. Its history dates back to the 17th century, when the Portuguese established the first university courses in Goa. However, it wasn't until after Goa was annexed by India that the university was consolidated, with the University of Mumbai establishing the Centre for Postgraduate Instruction and Research (CPIR) in Panaji in 1962.
