The North East Adventist University (NEAU) was established by METAS on a 90 acre land of Jowai of Meghalaya, in 2019 under the Meghalaya Act No.4, No. LL(B).23/2015/280. Pr. O.W. Lange, an American Missionary, established the Assam Training School in 1941 at the present location. In 1972, the name was changed to Adventist Training School (ATS). It was upgraded to a higher secondary school in 1997. The insignia of the university is a grey and blue shield with an open book, a tiara, a torch and a motif of three people. The shield is supported by a pair of laurels and surmounted by its motto ‘Education for Eternity’. The shield symbolises protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the open book symbolises education, knowledge and wisdom, the tiara symbolises departure from maidenhood into married life and royalty.; the torch with flame is an emblem of enlightenment, hope, life, truth and the regenerative power; the humans symbolise the stakeholders and beneficiaries; the laurels denote ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication; the colour grey signifies strength, longevity, unemotional, detached, balanced and impartial, power, influence, wisdom and intelligence and the colour blue signifies serenity, calmness, trust, spirituality, calmness, wisdom, freedom, openness, intelligence and loyalty.
