DIBRUGARH UNIVERSITY
Dibrugarh University, the easternmost University in India, was established in 1965 consequent upon the provisions of the Dibrugarh University Act, 1965, enacted by the Assam Legislative Assembly. Its emblem has an oil production platform with a cross section of the earth blow and the flames spewing out of the tower. It is ensconced by a circular border with red and black outlines holding the name of the university and its motto in Sanskrit ‘नियतं कुरु कर्म’ (Shloka 8, Chapter 3, Srimad Bhagavad Gita) meaning ‘Do Thou Perform Thy Bounden Duty for Action is Superior to Inaction’ separated by a pair of tea buds. The tea buds are native to the geography and the oil production platform signifies the main local industry.
