MARTIN LUTHER CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY

Martin Luther Christian University (MLCU) is a private university in Shillong, Meghalaya. The university is named after Martin Luther (1483–1546), the father of reformation. MLCU was established in July 2005; it claims to be the first Christian university in India after more than two centuries of Christian education in the country that does not focus on theological training. The cyan and yellow coloured inverted tear drop with a crown is holding a cross above a burning primitive stove with burning firewood. Below the motif its motto ‘The Light of Truth’ is written. The cross represents its christian orientation and theological studies; the crown is symbol of veneration; the burning stove symbolises the Holy Spirit.
