Chaudhary Devi Lal University, Sirsa became an university in 2003 upon upgradation of Kurukshetra University Chaudhary Devi Lal Post Graduate Regional Centre. The emblem of the university has an open book with a quill pen and three leaves placed over a rising sun on a blue circle. The year of the establishment is written at the bottom. These are ensconced by a green circle on which its name is inscribed along with its motto in Sanskrit ‘श्रद्धावान् लभते ज्ञानम्’ (Verse 39, Chapter 4, Bhagavad Gita) meaning ‘The Believer Attains Knowledge’. The open book denotes knowledge, wisdom and education; the quill pen symbolises a sense of lightness and balance; the three leaves symbolise faith, love and hope; the rising sun means light, universal prosperity and path for growth; the colour yellow denotes happiness, energy, vitality, focus and creativity; the colour blue means serenity, calmness, trust, spirituality, calmness, wisdom, freedom, openness, intelligence and loyalty and the colour green symbolises agriculture, nature, growth, balance, harmony, environment, prosperity, vitality, prestige, wealth and being very down to earth.
