The University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) is the first State Private University of its kind in North East India. The university is founded by the Education Research and Development Foundation (ERDF) which was founded by Mr. Mahbubul Hoque in 2005 at Guwahati, Assam. The emblem of the university has a circle divided into two halves by a representation of molecule on a yellow background and blue gear wheel holding its acronym in its counters. These are ensconced in a red circle. The circle is circumscribed by its name and place. The molecular motif denotes science and the gear wheel denotes engineering and technology.
