ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY

The Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), Awantipora has been established through an Act No. XVIII of 2005 dated November 7, 2005 passed by Jammu and Kashmir State Legislature and notified by the State Government, through Jammu and Kashmir Government Gazette of November 11, 2005. The emblem in blue colour has a calligraphic image in the centre, surmounted by its motto in English ‘Oh Lord! Advance Me In Knowledge’ and supported by its Arabic version within a circular border on which the name of the university is inscribed. The motto is a verse from the Quran, Surah Taha, verse 114, which reads: “And say: My Lord! Increase me in knowledge". This verse reflects the Islamic value of seeking knowledge and wisdom as a way of worshipping God and serving humanity. At the bottom, on a banner its acronym and its year of establishment is written.

Its name is written above the ellipse and at the bottom on a banner, the managing trust’s name is written. Its tagline ‘Inspiring Success’ is written at the bottom. A pair of laurels supports the ellipse on its sides. The tree refers to strength, individuality, expression, calmness, growth, the interconnectedness of everything and perpetuity; the swans are sacred and are symbols of grace and beauty; the humans refer to enlightened students and the laurels refer to ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication. INDIAN COUNCIL FOR CULTURAL RELATIONS The circular emblem of Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) has a traditional lamp placed in a circle, which has jaffri patterns from Indian architecture. Its initials ‘ICCR’ is placed at the bottom of the circle. The lamp symbolises light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity.
