Maharashtra Institute of Technology University of Meghalaya (MITUM) or MIT University, Shillong was established under the Meghalaya Act No. 3 of 2011, legislated by the Meghalaya Assembly and approved by Section 2(f) of UGC Act. The emblem of the university is a wordmark created using orange and black, in which ‘mit’ is written in lowercase sans serif font in black with the dot on the ‘i’ in orange. Below this ‘ University’ is written in orange and ‘Shillong’ is written in black. The colour orange symbolises energy, vitality, creativity, inspiration, joy and happiness and the colour black denotes mystery, power, elegance and sophistication.

NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF WIND ENERGY  The circular seal of National Institute of Wind Energy (NIWE) has a power symbol in yellow ochre colour supporting a cyan dot, which also represents windmill and generation of power. The colour black refers to crude oil; yellow represents earth and the green represents nature, growth, perpetuity and life. The motifs are placed in a square with yellow and green outlines. PARAVANI The Paravani, Mayil, Mayura or the peacock is the vahana or vehicle of the Lord Karthikeya, Murugan, Subrahmanya, Skanda, Kumara, Saravana, Arumukha, Devasenapati, Shanmukha, Kathirvela, Guha or Swaminatha. The legend has it that the demon king Surapadman, with the boon he received from the gods had become invincible. He believed that he was immortal and began tormenting all across the universe. Lord Kartikeya confronted the Surapadman and he evaded the Lord’s attacks. The demon transformed himself into a large tree near Tiruchendur. Lord Kartikeya using his Vel, the divine spear struck the tree and split Surapadman into two halves. The demon sought forgiveness from the Lord and transformed the halves into Mayil or peacock and a rooster.
